Transport Ministry to check situation with VIM-Avia charters
HERAKLION, Greece, Jun 19 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Transport Ministry will inspect VIM-Avia airline following its suspension of charter flights and punish those responsible for it, Minister Maxim Sokolov told PRIME on June 16.
“Measures should be taken with a calm head. We will carry out an inspection, discover the reasons, and penalize the responsible,” he said.
On June 6, VIM-Avia cancelled dozens of charter flights saying that several planes had failed to return from maintenance on time. Federal Air Transport Agency’s head Alexander Neradko said later that the company overrated its capabilities after it more than tripled the passenger traffic on the year in January–May.
Sokolov said that the company has received back all its planes from maintenance, and will solve all problems with charter flights as soon as it receives five new Boeing 777 planes until the end of June,.
